Creativity Australia presents Maribyrnong Sings Launches: Thursday 27th May 2010
Tania de Jong AM, founder of Pot-Pourri, Music Theatre Australia and The Song Room and winner of Australian Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2006, is thrilled to announce
the launch of Maribyrnong Sings as part of her new social venture, Creativity Australia’s With One Voice program.
Maribyrnong Sings is one of the major new initiatives. This brand new community and business choir commences Thursday the 27th of May and takes place every Thursday at the Braybrook Community Centre, Churchill Ave, Braybrook from 5:30 – 6:45pm. Everyone is welcome.
We encourage you to come along and be part of this exciting and creative project which will build community and business wellbeing in Maribyrnong. BANKSIA AWARDS
Highpoint is calling for local community and school groups
Highpoint Shopping Centre is calling on local community and school groups to enter the Banksia Awards, Australia’s highest environmental accolades.
Dedicated to recognising outstanding achievements in the field of environmental sustainability, this year’s Awards will feature the GPT supported Community Grant. All community entrants into the Banksia category awards are automatically eligible for consideration for the $10,000 prize.
The GPT supported Community Grant will be awarded to the community group that shows the most potential to create a lasting and positive impact on its local environment.
To support community groups with the Banksia Awards entry process a Banksia Award Entry Information Sessions, facilitated by the Banksia Awards, will be held at:
11am Tuesday 1 June - Highpoint Shopping Centre
Centre Management Office, 200 Rosamond Rd, Maribyrnong
The Information Sessions will provide the opportunity to learn some useful tips to assist groups in putting together their award entries. In an informal atmosphere, information will be provided on entering all Banksia Awards and participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions.
Key areas to be covered in the Banksia Award Entry Information Sessions include:
- The Awards offered by the Banksia 2010 program - an overview
- Which award to enter - some hints
- The criteria - understanding how the Awards work
- Some important areas to cover in your entry
- How putting together your entry can be an opportunity to assess your project and its outcomes against external criteria
- Strategies to harness support in the entry process and identify the strengths and unique qualities of your project
- A judge's viewpoint
- What is the "X" factor?
- Marketing ideas for finalists and winners

Open Family Open Family Australia provides outreach support and services to young people at risk. It has been working since 1978 with some of Australia's most marginalised youth, linking them to the services they require and helping them to reconnect to their family and community.
Western Health Western Health is the major public provider of acute health services throughout Western Metropolitan Melbourne. Western Health provides a range of health services via Western Hospital, Sunshine Hospital and The Williamstown Hospital. In addition, Western Health delivers residential aged care services from Reg Geary House and Hazeldean Nursing Home; and drug and alcohol services from the DASWest facility.
