Puff Pesto Christmas Trees
Crisp golden pastry and a swirl of pesto make these little trees a true Christmas favourite. Simple to bake and even better to share, they’ll bring a touch of joy to any festive spread.
Ingredients
- 2 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 tbsp basil pesto
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- 60 g mozzarella cheese, grated or sliced
- 1-2 slices hard mozzarella (for cutting small stars)
Method
- Preheat oven to 200°C (fan-forced) and line a tray with baking paper.
- Spread pesto evenly over the puff pastry sheet.
- Sprinkle with grated or sliced mozzarella, then place another puff pastry sheet on top
- Use a pizza cutter to cut out pastry into strips. Arrange into tree shapes on the skewers.
- Brush each tree lightly with melted butter.
- Bake for 30 minutes, until golden, puffed and the cheese has melted.
- Cut small stars from a mozzarella slice and place one on top of each pastry tree
- Serve warm, they’re perfect for appetisers, lunchboxes, or edible Christmas décor.
